Irinotecan (CAMPTOSAR) Dosing Print Error in Lexicomp’s 2005-06 Drug Information Handbook

Lexicomp’s 2005-06 Drug Information Handbook (13th edition, pg 829) contains a dosing error in the irinotecan (CAMPTOSAR) monograph. The dosing for combination therapy (with fluorouracil and leucovorin) listed for regimen 2 is incorrect as this is an every 2 week regimen. The monograph previously read:

Regimen 2: 180 mg/m 2 over 90 minutes on days 1, 15, and 22; to be given in combination with infusional leucovorin and bolus/infusion fluorouracil (leucovorin administered immediately following irinotecan; fluorouracil immediately following leucovorin)

It has been changed to (changes in bold)

Regimen 2: 180 mg/m 2 over 90 minutes on days 1, 15, and 29; to be given in combination with infusional leucovorin and bolus/infusion fluorouracil (leucovorin administered immediately following irinotecan; fluorouracil immediately following leucovorin)

These changes have been automatically posted to their online and hand-held reference sources, but the error will persist in the current print edition.
