Aroun Khemdy is the Pharmacy Technician Analyst and Research Assistant for the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP). She joined ISMP in 2007 and works in the error reporting department. She leads the intake and processing of reports submitted to the ISMP National Medication Errors Reporting Program (ISMP MERP) and the ISMP National Vaccine Errors Reporting Program (ISMP VERP) as well as conducts follow-up with reporters and manufacturers. Her work also includes supporting the development of ISMP medication safety initiatives and projects (e.g., self assessments, guidelines, presentations) through querying of error report data in ISMP’s error reporting databases. Aroun also works collaboratively with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to provide individual cases and aggregate data to inform nomenclature, packaging, and labeling improvements.
Prior to joining ISMP, Ms. Khemdy worked for PharMerica in Plymouth Meeting, PA, and has over eleven years of experience as a pharmacy data entry technician and a coder in medical records in the long-term care and correctional pharmacy settings.
