Stacy L. Carson, PharmD, BCPS, FISMP is the Medication Safety Officer for AdventHealth. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Following graduation, she completed a Pharmacy Practice and Drug Information residency at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS. She then went on to complete a Safe Medication Management Fellowship at the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) in Horsham, PA. After fellowship, Dr. Carson became the Medication Safety Pharmacist at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL for six years where she led their Medication Error, Drug Safety, and Pump Committees. Dr. Carson became the Medication Safety Coordinator for AdventHealth Orlando in 2018. In her current role, she co-chairs the 8-hospital Smart Pump Oversight Committee and the Medication Safety Committee, precepts students and residents, and is the residency program director for the Medication Use Safety and Policy program. She helps lead medication safety initiatives working in collaboration with clinical, operational, and informatics leaders. She served on the ASHP SAG for Medication Safety for five years. She’s currently serving as the 2020-21 Chair of the SOPIT SAG for Operations and Automation. Dr. Carson is course coordinator and primary lecturer for a University of Florida online elective course within their Master's in Patient Safety in Medication Use program; the course focuses on how technology and medication safety affect each other in healthcare.
